Genoa is strategically located 60 miles west of Chicago in the rich farmland of northeastern
DeKalb County. With easy access to I-90, I-88 and I-39. Genoa's location is perfect for
families and businesses looking for a quiet rural community with convenient transportation to metropolitan areas. You will be close to all of the activities and conveniences of the "city" but far enough removed to enjoy the small town "good life."
Genoa is an award winning community in the heart of Illinois' historic and beautiful Kishwaukee River Valley. Since 1996 they have been an Illinois Main Street designated community. Illinois Main Street began in 1993, as a preservation based,
economic development program sponsored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and
Community Affairs. More than $3 million has been reinvested in the downtown infrastructure since 1996 in building and facade renovations, parking lot construction and sidewalk improvements. Since its state recognition in 1996, Genoa Main Street has been a consistent award winner at Illinois Main Street conferences.
Take a walk through Russell Woods Forest Preserve in Genoa, beneath mature oaks and hickories, surrounded by woodland wildflowers.
